Interview Makeup Tips

Good Evening Beautifuls!

We have all faced that moment of complete excitement about landing an interview. However, that excitement often comes with nerves. While you worry about what to say during the interview you may also wonder what to wear and how to do your makeup. Today I want to share a few of my personal tips to get the perfect, interview ready, makeup!

The #1 Rule

Less is always more! You want to look put together, but you don’t want your makeup to be a distraction. Your personality should always shine through the most!

Keep it natural

Makeup Tips!

  1. Give yourself extra time so that you can ensure everything is blended properly
  2. Wash, moisturize, and prime your skin. Properly prepped skin will help your makeup look flawless.
  3. Use products you know you love. The day of an interview is not the day to test out new makeup. Stick with your holy grail products!
  4. Keep highlighting and contouring to a minimum. Don’t do a sharp contour or a beaming highlight. Subtle is key!
  5. Keep your blush a light wash of color. Pick something natural so that it looks like a natural flush of the cheeks.
  6. Keep your brows natural as well. It is okay to fill them in, but don’t carve them out. Dramatic brows can be too much.
  7. Use a mascara you love and skip the false lashes! Dramatic lashes can draw too much attention. You could get away with very natural false lashes, but I recommend skipping them.
  8. Go with either no eye shadow or very minimal eye shadow. Skip the shimmer, glitter, dark, and bright colors.
  9. Use a sheer lipstick or a lip tint. Stay away from bright, vampy, super nude, and glossy lips. A lip tint is perfect to enhance your natural lip color without going too dramatic.

Natural is the way to go with makeup for any interview. It is all about enhancing your natural features without going dramatic. I love my dramatic makeup, but in an interview bold makeup causes distraction. You want the employer to focus on your personality and what you have to say, not on your makeup.

Hair Tips!

  1. Keep it simple!
  2. If you tend to twirl your hair in your fingers from nerves then pull your hair back into a ponytail. This helps you avoid that habit. Wrap a piece of hair around your hair band to conceal it for a more professional look.
  3. Make sure to pin hair away from your face. You never want your hair to be down over your face or slightly covering your eyes.
  4. If you have a lot of static in your hair grab a dryer sheet and run it through your hair. It will tame any little pieces sticking up from static.

Perfume Tips!

An important tip with perfume is to not wear it at all or keep it very subtle. The last thing you want is to wear a strong scent that either your employer does not like or is allergic too. A scent can definitely cause distraction. People are easily turned off by scent. Keep it subtle, and don’t wear anything strong.

Getting ready for an interview can be intimidating. I hope these tips can help make getting ready a little less nerve-racking. If you have any specific questions that I didn’t cover here feel free to ask me anything.

As always thank you for reading!
